“These go to eleven.”

Round Robin #11 — just like #10, only one more so. (“Hey! You know I can’t count in my head!”)

The next Round Robin story — wherein each participant caps a picture in a continuing, and often continually odd, storyline — will be starting relatively soon. Sign up by Sunday, June 18, to get in on the fun.

New Sets, New Feature (Profiles!), People Falling

Sunday, June 11th, 2006

Thanks to the good old new capperwiki, I’m finally sort of offering user profiles here. Right now they’re just at Wasting Precious Time, and they’re just links to your capperwiki profile, but it’s a nice personalizing touch, no? Anyway, when you see this – – icon, just click it and you’ll get to see the author’s profile at the capperwiki. If you’d like to set it up for your WPT stories, it’s three “simple” steps – #1: Register for a capperwiki account, #2: Set up your profile there, and #3: Edit your profile here so it points to the right profile, and check off the box to use it.

ONE STEP BEYOND!We’ve also got our usual Sunday night update at WPT except we’ve got an extra set again this week. We dip back into the MST well with some grabs from Swamp Diamonds (as seen in episode [503]) featuring Beverly Garland and Touch Connors. I’ve got a new found appreciation for Corman – it took a lot of talent to tell a story with this footage. You may find better luck with a few pictures from The Aerialist episode of One Step Beyond, and of course, we’ve got our usual grab bag of images from the Prelinger Archive.

UnReality should be opening registration for Round Robin #11 soon, but I bet you can sign up now.

And on an administrative note, I’ve added extra spam protection to the comments here. Let me know if it gets in your way.

p.s. Sorry for that site outage around 7 PM. I had a glitch doing the update for user profiles.

New Feature: Feed!

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

Huzzah! For the first time in two weeks, I’m unveiling a new feature here – a beta RSS feed for Wasting Precious Time. You can get the feed here: http://sector7g-zz9.com/wpt/stories.xml and use it to see the latest stories at WPT. It’s still not ready for prime time, so if you encounter any issues with it, don’t be shocked and please let me know, here or via email. If you’re not familiar with how to use a feed, read up on aggregators.

I have a few other new features I hope to complete in the coming weeks – the ability to send a caption to a friend, adding capperwiki profiles to WPT, and a minituarized version of IS’ front page, especially made to be iframed and placed on your own web pages. Let me know if any of those sound like they’re worth finishing.

Time Marches On: Stooges, Carpets, and More

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

Larry, caught in the actThanks to all five of you who voted in the recent “how to improve WPT” poll. I’m going with the only choice to get more than one vote, more picture sets, and giving a whole three sets to work with this week. First off is a little bit of Moe, Larry and Not Curly from The New Three Stooges. Plus a little bit of carpet shilling and our usual assorted images.

While the poll has been closed, feel free to offer your feedback about what’s wrong with WPT (or even what’s right) in this thread. While mix and match picture sets has always had a few supporters, right now I’m still rating it as around 3 out of 5 tops on the likely benefit scale, and darn close to 5 out of 5 on the difficulty of implementation. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but for it to happen anytime soon, I need to be convinvced I’m scoring those wrongs.

Round Robin 10

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

The Round Robin is dead, long live the Round Robin! Have a gander and what these fine folks wrote for #10.

And don’t miss your chance to participate in #11…starting sooner or later. More fun than a bag full of hammers!
